A sudden knee injury took my life in an unexpected direction—one that led me to a newfound purpose and a career I never saw coming.
I’ve always been community-oriented, but that sense of service grew when I met Mark, who would become my real estate mentor. Before joining his team, real estate wasn’t exactly on my radar. After high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, and I didn’t pursue a college degree. I worked a variety of jobs throughout the years—I managed an electronic company, sold electronics, and even worked for Pepsi, distributing and stocking products on shelves.
One life-changing event happened during a softball game when I tore my ACL. It was a big deal; I had to undergo knee surgery, take time to heal, and when I returned to my job at a cable company, I realized I no longer felt comfortable climbing towers. It was time for a change.
A good family member was a contractor who built houses and had previously invited me and Jake to help remodel homes with him. His influence gave me an appreciation for real estate, so in 2007, I made a complete career switch and got my license.
I was lucky to land on a team led by Mark, a seasoned and experienced REALTOR® who became not just my boss but my friend. Mark was a confident go-getter who believed in himself, and more importantly, he believed in me. He never judged me, always cared about my success, and taught me how to navigate the business. Together, we grew our team. What started as a two-person operation expanded to 18 agents, and we became the top office in our location.
Mark had a heart for giving back. One of our goals was to donate $250K annually to charities, a target we consistently met. He was also involved in foster care and encouraged me to adopt. At that point, Jake and I weren’t considering having children, but the idea of foster care resonated with us. We fostered Olivia and Noah for several years and eventually adopted them.
In 2024, I received a phone call that would change my life again. Mark, who had been vacationing in Florida, had unexpectedly passed away. The shock and grief of losing my close friend and business partner of 16 years are difficult to describe. I also found myself as the senior agent at our office, and the weight of that responsibility was overwhelming. Mark had been an incredible leader and had left some pretty big shoes to fill. I was afraid of letting our agents down.
I confided in a broker friend, telling her I was considering stepping down—not just as a senior agent, but from real estate altogether. “Nonsense,” she said. “Mark trained you for this. You’re doing it.” She was right—I owed it to Mark, to our agents, and to myself to rise to the occasion.
Now, as the main leader at our office, I strive to uphold the values and training Mark instilled in me. I support our agents, helping them grow and succeed, just as Mark once did for me. His legacy lives on through the work we continue to do.
Olivia and Noah, now 6 and 9, bring so much joy to my life. We love traveling, from Disney cruises to exploring Europe. They’re active in gymnastics and sports, so my free time is often spent cheering them on at their games or enjoying quiet moments at home. I remain committed to giving back, currently serving on the board of a center that provides 24/7 daycare for underprivileged children.
I never imagined real estate would become my calling, but through the influence of a great mentor and my growing family, I’ve found purpose and a deep sense of community in this journey.
I find joy in seeing my clients' excitement on closing day. Guiding them through the process, especially those unfamiliar with it, is incredibly rewarding. Whether it’s staging and downsizing for sellers or helping buyers find their perfect home, I bring years of experience to every transaction. What sets me apart is my commitment to communication. I’m always available, responding promptly and staying involved from start to finish. My clients know they can count on me every step of the way. To me, real estate is about more than just buying and selling—it’s about building relationships. Many of my clients become lifelong friends, and I truly value those connections.
I specialize in residential real estate and investment properties, offering in-depth knowledge of the local market. I understand the unique characteristics of different neighborhoods and the lifestyles they provide, helping my clients find a home that truly fits their needs. My goal is always to put relationships first, ensuring my clients feel supported and informed throughout their journey.
Sincerely,
Jason Pryor-Carr
